The Sarasota Collection is thrilled to announce their representation of renowned Miami-based artist Ted VanCleave. Internationally acclaimed for his sculpture, photography, and paintings, VanCleave’s works can be found in galleries and museums across the country including the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation in California, as well as in Europe.
As the only artist featured simultaneously at four major art fairs during Art Basel Week 2013 in Miami (Art Miami, Context Art Miami, Aqua Art Miami, and Spectrum Miami), VanCleave enjoyed particular prominence and success at this event – even selling out at Aqua Art Miami. He has also been a featured speaker at the Boca Museum of Art as well as a frequent interviewee on CNN.
At The Sarasota Collection he will showcase his sculpture as well as various works on paper, including the Harmony series, a collection of 3-D torn paper collages, layered to a depth of 3.5 inches. The works present an illusion of infinite “visual indulgence,” and metallic paint on the paper glistens to reflect “color-based energy” and luminosity.
VanCleave also brings to Sarasota the Sinuosity sculpture series which, in his words, is the “perfect balance of sensual curves and visual Zen infused with meditative tranquility.” Constructed of industrial nylon and cement, the rigid materials used to sculpt these incredible works of art seemingly contradict the fluidity of the piece, but the end result is a study in absolute harmony. Together, the Harmony and Sinuosity series work to create an astounding interplay of textures that stimulate the senses. “We couldn’t be more excited to bring Mr. VanCleave into The Sarasota Collection as a featured new artist,” owner Marcus Anast states with infectious enthusiasm. “He really is a visionary and a great asset to our Collection.” We are thrilled to showcase Ted VanCleave’s art at The Sarasota Collection and are confident that his inspired works of fine art will be a unique focal piece in the design-conscious home.
