REJUVENATE
Now is the time to look ahead at rejuvenating your home for the new and exciting season ahead.
We have some suggestions to get that accomplished.
Re-upholstery and Slipcovers
If you love your upholstered pieces getting a new fabric on a chair or sofa would create a whole new look. You can change the color scheme, add an accent color or go with a new texture. Texture is a great design element that adds an edge to a neutral palette.
Paint
There is so much to do with paint that can transform any room of your home.
New paint colors incorporate several pigments which create different hues at different times of the day depending on the light. They are called in-between colors. Grey is all the rage but it can be a very cold color but not when mixed with other colors. Grey alone can be too cold for a dining room but add a little brown and it becomes warm and inviting. A good example of this is Behr’s Stepping Stones. Benjamin Moore’s Bennington Gray is a cross between gray and beige. It is a stunning back drop for neutral upholstery. Another gray that’s creates warmth and softness is Benjamin Moore’s Coventry Gray.
For a change a pace in a coastal home try Benjamin Moore’s Glass Slipper. It has a thread of blue which trends away from the blue and white monotony.
Color and Texture
Contrasts and varying textures is a way of giving depth and interest. Use flat finishes with rough ones and reflective ones with matte ones. If the room has rough textures and organic finishes add in a mirror or piece of mercury glass or clear table top. If the decor is sleek add in some organic pieces. Rugs can add a little pop. Many companies are offering new patterns in most fabulous colors.
Glass accessories come in luscious colors which can add to a neutral palette along with some new matching pillows as well.
